Trevor Briggs from Balmain in Sydney was a keen long distance cyclist. He had a plan to commemorate the centenaries of the first major cross-Australia bicycle trips, all done in the late 1890's. He completed trips from Adelaide to Sydney, Croydon (NQLD) to Sydney, Perth to Adelaide, Sydney to Brisbane, and several other long trips.
Trevor set off in May 1999 to commemorate the first around Australia trip by Arthur Richardson in 1899-2000. Tragically, Trevor was struck and killed by a vehicle near Ballarat in August 1999, after more than 12,000km around Australia.
Trevor will be remembered as a staunch friend and loyal and tireless member of LBUG.
