Starting from Moores Cafe/Bakery, Moore St Leichhardt, the route follows Moore St and Booth St to a left at Pyrmont Bridge Rd, then right at Ross St and across Parramatta Rd into Sydney University Grounds. Go past the sporting centre and left on Physics Rd. Right at top of hill then left/right to get onto the exit road to City Rd. Cross City Rd and go up Codrington St to Abercrombie Rd. Left here and follow on to a right onto Lawson St. This takes you past Redfern Station on the right. Keep going up to Regent St, where a right/left gets you onto Redfern St. Follow this straight ahead, across Elizabeth St and up a short hill. Down the other side take a quick right/left onto quiet Telopea St and follow to Bourke St ( use footpath across street closure). Right onto Bourke St and get onto the left footpath at the next block. About 100 m along there is a path on the left through a housing development which takes you to a footbridge across Sth Dowling St. Once over the bridge turn right onto a path that goes along to Dacey Av, the main connector between Sth Dowling and Anzac Pde.
Follow along Dacey Av (which is nice and wide) to Anzac Pde and turn right at the big intersection (get into the right turn bay early). Follow Anzac Pde along ( fairly safe along here in a wide kerbside lane), past UNSW and through Kingsford until you get to the big roundabout. Turn left here onto Rainbow St, which heads due east towards the coast for a couple of KM. Take a right turn onto Malabar Rd at the intersection of Rainbow St and Mount St(dont keep on following Rainbow St or you will find a very steep hill) and travel along Malabar Rd through a roundabout at Arden St past a cemeterey on the right. Take care at the roundabout and keep following Malabar Rd for a km or so until Torrington Rd. Left here and a good downhill to Marine Pde. Right here and follow along to Maroubra Beach. Have a break here or keep on going past the car park and right onto the main exit road (Fitzgerald Av). Left onto Malabar Rd again at the lights and up a longish hill. Keep going straight ahead at the top across Beauchamp Rd and you will find a path on the left of the cul de sac that takes you down to rejoin Anzac Pde just before the turn off to Malabar and Long Bay. Left on to Franklin St then right at a roundabout onto Dacre St and Bay Pde, the road that follows the shore of Long Bay. At the end of this road there is a sharp right onto Howe St up a steep hill, with a golf course on the left. Left at top of hill and follow Edward St along to Bilga Cr. Left here and follow right around, down a hill and up, past Long Bay jail on the right, and rejoin Anzac Pde. Left here and follow Anzac Pde until you get to the intersection with Bunnerong Rd. Left here and its downhill to La Perouse. Admire the views of Botany Bay, Cape Banks, Congwong Bay and the fort on Bare Island or watch the scuba divers, and end up in the cafe of your choice on the Bay side at the bottom of the loop road.
Return via the same or similar route (cut out the Long Bay bit, etc) or a quicker route is via Bunnerong/Botany Rd/Beauchamp/Denison/Banks to Kingsford, then Houston/Day/Doncaster/Alison Rd/Centennial Park if you want to have a break there. Return to Leichhardt via the City and the East West cycleroute through Glebe from Ultimo Rd or via the Anzac Bridge cycleway.
